On Sunday, October 19, 1947, the “Kingdom of Friendship” was born. With the ostentatious ceremonial of a European Court, Prince Don Manuel was invited to occupy the throne of the imaginary kingdom and, within an atmosphere full of joy and surrounded by music, he was crowned as Manuel I, King of Cups. In the old spot, “El Tropezón”, two land areas were obtained, and the Castle was erected therein. The building was constructed throughout years 1949 and 1950. On January 8, 1950, the King, his officials and his subjects inaugurated the Plaza de Toros (Bull Ring). It had big stalls with a seating capacity of 2000 people. Today you can visit the Castle, which is located next to the lagoon by-pass.

Fishing

Since the Chascomús Lagoon is part of the Las Encadenadas system, together with the other lagoons such as Vitel, Adela, Del Burro, Chis-Chis, Tablillas and Barrancas, it makes a splendid wetland, considered unique in the world due to its ecologic characteristics and biodiversity. Wetlands maintain an important biologic diversity and constitute a habitat to house different animal populations. The Chascomús Lagoon is ideal for silverside fishing from April to September, and during the summer months, it is ideal for noisy fish fishing. There are several fishing clubs that rent boats, and for those who have their own boat there are authorized slops. You can also do some sport fishing from the pier, which is illuminated and has public restrooms.
